Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is all set to open in cinemas tomorrow. The advance bookings are extraordinary all over for this Atlee directorial. Jawan is behind Pathaan in the national chains due to programming issues like holdovers digging in and demanding shows that are still not complete at the moment. But when it comes to single screens, Jawan is going bonkers with earth-shattering advances. Going by the trend, this action drama might target a 5 lakh finish at the national chains.
This means Jawan may end in the third or fourth spot regarding advances at the national chains (PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis). The exact trend can be known by the evening. If we take a look at the overall advance bookings for the first day, Jawan will be the highest ever. While Pathaan had an extended 5-day weekend advantage, Jawan will have a 4-day extended first weekend. It is also worth noting that the second day of Pathaan was a national holiday.
The advances are in rampage mode in West Bengal and South. Also, Jawan will enjoy the benefit of Janmashtami on day one. Though the Hindi belts are quite less for Jawan, the response is far stronger than Pathaan. Gujarat, East Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh will contribute hugely to the film’s overall revenues, and the trend in these regions is far better than Pathaan.
The Telugu and Tamil versions will also contribute significantly to Jawan. The star power and humongous fan following of Bollywood Badshah combined with South director and actors is the reason behind this euphoria. This means the Hindi version collections might take a beating as audiences prefer to watch the film in local languages. This has happened for Brahmastra before, and once again, Jawan is repeating this feat. Generally, south audiences tend to watch the Hindi version despite the dubbed versions, but films like Jawan have the potential to tap the interiors of the southern markets through its Tamil and Telugu versions.
After undergoing a slump period for about 18 months, Bollywood is back with a bang with continuous blockbusters, and it seems Jawan will continue the momentum. If Jawan manages to get a positive talk, records will be rewritten all over. Also, the bookings are outstanding in overseas regions, and SRK is once again proving why he is hailed the “King of Overseas.” Produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment, the film has Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in crucial roles. Gaurav Verma co-produced this flick, which has the cameo of Deepika Padukone.
