A web portal reported that Ramesh Sippy’s 1982-film 'Shakti', which starred Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, and had Anil Kapoor in a cameo, will be remade. It was also claimed that producer Harish Sugandh will be backing the project. Though the film is considered a classic today, it had failed to create ripples at the box office when it had hit the screen in 1982.
Sugandh refuted the rumours of a remake. Talking about it, he said that it’s not possible to remake 'Shakti' today. He admitted that his son and nephew are planning to make a film together, but it that project isn’t 'Shakti'. He further pointed out that though the film is a classic, it didn't click and hence a remake doesn’t really hold merit. He also cited the lack of actors like Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan as one of the reasons.
